Wizards of Waverly Place The Movie....

"Wizards of Waverly Place The Movie", a Walt-Disney production. This movie is from the TV show Wizards of Waverly Place that is aired on Astro's Channel 615 daily. I had high expectations of this movie, because I had always liked their TV shows. Unfortunately, my high expectations did not exactly meet, but it was still okay. The storyline was about them going for a vacation without magic, but the Alex and her brother secretly kept the family wand and the forbidden spell book. One thing led to another during the vacation and Alex accidentally wished their parents never met. And thus, their adventure began looking the "Stone of Dreams" (I think, I can't exactly remember).

It is quite a nice movie to relax and unwind after a long busy day... =)

My Rating for this Movie: 6.5/10

Slow Coaches!!!

I sat for my computer test yesterday. AND I PASSED! =) The test was not as hard as I expected. I passed with bare minimum. The passing mark is 42 or 50, and there are a few of my friends failed, because they missed by a question or two.

When I went to register at about 1 something in the afternoon, the place was already jam-packed with people. I took my number, and guess what number it was already...

The number on the screen was only at 57! I had to wait for soooooooo LONG! By the time I took my computer test, it was about 5 in the evening already. Imagine... I was there at 1 plus, I had to wait for almost 4 HOURS for this stupid exam!

The people working there also work FREAKISHLY SLOW!!!! When someone finishes the exam, it takes the people working there at least 5 minutes to get the next person in. And when it comes to getting the result slip, it takes at least 10 to 30 minutes for them to print it out. In other test centers, you get your result slip as soon as you get out. Why is this test center so different? And why let those taken their exams wait???
But oh well, it's over already, thank goodness for that! The main thing is "I PASSED AND I SHALL NEVER GO BACK THERE AGAIN!" XD

I got the details for SUSOM already. =) To tell you the truth, I'm a little scared of going into the big city of KL. I am enochlophobic and agoraphobic. I'll be leaving on the 8th or 9th I think, I don't know how is the arrangement of my transport there like yet. The actual program officially starts on the 11th of January at 9:00 a.m. Oh well, I'm now excited yet afraid! @.@

Anyway, 3 MYF'ers from Alor Setar are going Jeremiah School soon! Please pray for them! =) All the form 5s from MYF are going to be away! Sigh... Let's hope that each of us shall be blessed in our different ways and have different experiences to share when we come back to Alor Setar and touch the lives of others. =)

Arghhhh!!! Undang Test TOMORROW!

I have to at least remember vaguely how many demerit marks will be deducted for certain offenses committed, and some other on-the-road rules!
HELP! =(

G.I.Joe The Rise of Cogra... The Movie.

Another movie I borrowed from Samantha! ^^ She has loads of movies...

The computer-generated graphics were great! The weapons and gadget used were awesome! And if it wasn't for those, my rating for this movie would be much much lower... Something was just wrong with this movie. And I think some of playback scenes of memories weren't quite necessary. And the storyline was so jumbled up, and made me so confused! I actually found the movie boring at some parts despite being filled with so many action-filled scenes.

But the movie got me thinking, if these kind of weapons can be shown in the movie, it's just a matter of time, before in reality, these kind of weapons are developed and used. With these extras, what would be the world like? A scarier place, where humans destroy themselves for power! And that would be the end of the world.

My Rating for this Movie: 6.5/10

MYF Christmas Party... =)

Ah... MYF Christmas Party was a great success! For those you don't know what MYF Christmas Party is... MYF Christmas Party was held on the 23rd of December at Wesley Methodist Church, Alor Setar @ 6:00 p.m. till 9:30 p.m. We had an estimated attendance of 180 people, much more than we expected!God works in mysterious ways! Just days before this party, we were in doubt whether we could get even a 100 people to come. But in the end we had more than we targeted! 100 had seemed impossible, but 180+ came! I don't even know where some of the people came from!
The three lovely ushers @ the registration table.
Stickers were stuck onto the youths who came so that the youths would get to know each other. The ushers also took down their personal details so that in future, we can contact them and tell them any upcoming events of MYF and invite them to join! =)
The crowd (Nobody dares to sit in the front row =P).
We had a little time of worship first, followed by a skit. The skit will be out in youtube soon. The size of the video is about 1 GB +, so you understand that it will take quite awhile to upload it on youtube. Our speaker for the Christmas Party was Aunt Chiam with a message entitled "God's Love". I enjoyed her talk (although I only got to listen to half of it, because I had to go upstairs and help with the food).
We had makan time after the message! I don't have any shots of the food though, my photographer didn't take much there, the ones she took were all blur... =( But oh well, there are some pictures on it on facebook posted by others... =)

After makan time was time for some games and performances! =)
Hazel and Samantha are competing against each other to see who has the nicer smile... Hazel won (but I think Samantha should have won. Her smile is nicer. =P)
I think all of us including the new-comers, enjoyed the games... =) The girls did a tambourine dance. And the worship team then did a sing-along.

I think overall, everyone who attended enjoyed themselves. I also think the ones planning and preparing for this Christmas Party also had a great time practices and fellowship together. We got to know one another better, like Edward, he's still "high" from the skit. haha...
Group Photo!
Look at Su-Yen!!! XP
In conclusion, let's have a BIGGER one NEXT YEAR! =)

New Secret (SP) Restaurant....

Psst! Hey people, wanna know a new secret? Visit the New Secret (SP) Restaurant in Sungai Petani, Kedah! XD It's a restaurant that serves REAL Chinese food (Not Malaysian Chinese food)! This restaurant is located near Village Mall, if you know where I mean. AND!, if you do decide dine at this restaurant, you must know how to speak Chinese, or hokkien!
The veggies, topped with chicken floss.
I somehow do not like this porridge. I do not know why. The texture is much different, compared to the porridge I normally take.
Porridge topped with spring onions...
Chicken in some sauce (I don't know what sauce is it)...
This might take some getting use to. Other than chicken, they serve eel in this kind of sauce too (I think, I saw the other tables all getting their meat in pots).
The appetizers.
The food served here is just not my taste. I do not appreciate this kind of food. I think the origins of this type of cooking is from China, where people eat these kind of foods to keep warm in the winter months. Maybe after you tried the food there, you can give me some feedback of what you think? =)

My rating for this restaurant is 6.5/10.

Lunch @ Sitiawan! =)

I visited my grandparents last Saturday. I got the chance to see my uncle in KL, with my three small cousins! =)

Isn't she cute? =) Small kids are always cute!
We had lunch at this restaurant, called "Restoran Mei Hock", located in the middle of nowhere (to me). Of the whole row of shops, only a few shops are up and running, the rest are just empty lots crying out to be rented out.
This restaurant is located @...This restaurant's menu is different from the other restaurants in Alor Setar, instead of just giving you the names of the food, a picture of the dish is also shown in the menu, making the menu quite thick. I think this is not such a good idea for menus, because the customers would be wasting time flipping through the whole menu, just to order what they want. The food there was quite okay. I liked their salad prawns, and the 5 in one dish.
4 of the dishes. The salad prawn dish is located at the bottom left of the four. =)
Another 4 dishes. I did not like the fried brinjal (top right corner) and the chicken (bottom left corner).
Overall, the food was rather good. I must say I pretty much enjoyed it. The gave us free soya-bean jelly as desert too! =)

My rating for this restaurant would be about 7.5/10.

Another picture of my cousin! =) He's cute, right?

Been Watching Movies Lately... =)

Been watching movies lately, something I have not done since the month before SPM started. These two movies were graciously lent by Samantha... =)

First movie... "Taken".

A very nice movie! This show is about a retiree of an CIA employee, divorced. He has a daughter, and she goes to Paris with her friend Amanda. His daughter gets kidnapped by human traffickers. He goes to Paris and saves his daughter.

This movie has non-stop action! Plenty of shooting! It also shows how much a father would go through just to save his daughter.

My Rating for this movie: 8/10.

Next movie... "Ghosts of Girlfriends Past".
I somehow find this movie rather boring comparing to the movie "Taken". This movie is about a playboy, making girls love with him. Once they fall in love with him, he dumps them. At one time, he breaks up with 3 women at a time. He attends a wedding of his brothers, and nearly ruins it. 3 ghosts visits him, and he is a changed man.

I find the storyline a little lame and boring. It's somehow like copied from Mr. Scourge, just that this is a different scenario. Oh well...

My rating for this movie: 5/10

A Random Shot @ Gurney Plaza! =)

A random shot @ Gurney Plaza. I like this picture! What say you?Back to Part 2 of my recent Penang Trip... I bought an SAT book that cost RM 99.90 @ MPH & Christmas candy! After walking tirelessly at Gurney Plaza, we headed to New World Park @ Lorong Swatow for dinner!
There is a hawker center in New World Park. Looking at the number people eating there, I think the food there must be quite nice. There is even a store there selling wooden carvings and old stuffs, like old coins and postcards.

My family and I decided to try something new, so we headed to Passions of Kerala, an Indian restaurant, originating from North India I think.
The food there was okay larh, I guess. I think the food at Cennai Curry House in SP is much nicer. But, I think that is because of my lil sis, my mother asked the waiter to lessen on the usage of chilli. I think I would have prefered it to be more spicy.
The main set with different veggies.
Additional Dishes.
I think the food was overall okay. The service was great! But, I would think twice before going there again though.

Christmas is in 3 DAYS!

MYF Christmas Party is TOMORROW

Penang Trip... =) [Part 1]

P.S. I have been busy lately. I have been meaning to update my blog, but somehow couldn't find the time.

It has been a long time since I have been to Penang, I think the last time I went was when MYF organized the trip the Penang Hill. My parents decided to bring m
e there just for fun, some more it was in between exam, before my Chinese paper. The first picture I took when I arrived at Penang. A vandalized traffic light, with all the stickers of the available offers to lend money. We headed to Gurney Plaza. There was a show on, about Dragon Ball in Gurney, it was pretty noisy!

We had lunch at Seoul Garden, my EX-FAVORITE place to makan...
The lovely lovely food.... My parents then went shopping, while I just followed them here and there. It was pretty tiring just to walk. It's been a long time since I walked that long! I tried ice=cream from a store called Gelatissimo. I think it's ice-cream from Aussie.
The ice-cream! 3 different flavours in one! It was just simply yummy! =)
You should try it when you head down to Gurney Plaza. It's located at the same row as Dome.

I'll blog about the dinner I had later... =)

SPM Over, What Next?

SPM is OFFICIALLY over for me! I finished my Chinese papers yesterday. The Chinese papers are getting tougher and tougher as the years go by. This year, they revamped the papers, instead of having more objective questions in Paper 2, there are more subjective questions. I think in a few years time, Paper 2 will be tested all in subjective format.

Christmas is round the corner! I'll be pretty busy this Christmas with caroling practices, skit practices and all.

Oh, who wants to come for my MYF's Christmas Party?
It's on the 23rd of this month. It starts at 6:30 p.m. and ends at 9:30 p.m. at WMC.
Do contact me. =)

My SPM is Unofficially Over!

One more subject to go! Two more papers to go! I can't wait for 14th at 12:30 noon, I'll be free from exams (for the time being)! One more dreaded subject, Chinese. I don't even know why I take Chinese when there is a high possibility of not passing this subject.

Anyway, Tim and gang are going YLDP today, and Sam is going for HEROS camp. I wanna go! But I still have exams! :( Never mind, I'm going for SUSOM in Jan! =)

17 DAYS TILL CHRISTMAS!

Hey! FarmVille is bigger than Twitter!

Can you believe it? I was reading from TechRadar just now.

Facebook: FarmVille is bigger than

Twitter

Big numbers revealed, as the site hits 350 million users

What is the world coming to? This statistics are really mind-blowing! Bigger than TWITTER??? Imagine spending an hour a day on FarmVille. In a week, you will have spent 7 hours on it. In a month, a day plus 7 hours (assuming the month has 31 days)! In a year, you would have spent 15 days and 5 hours on it! Imagine the time wasted, just to farm online, which does not bring you anything except pleasure for that few minutes.

Life These Days...

SPM is no laughing matter, it stresses me up a lot! Sometimes, when you feel you did badly, you just have to move on and don't look back. Don't keep the frustration and anger in your heart, or all the others will be affected too. It's like life, if you keep everything to yourself, you end up going mad and getting insane.

19 more days, and I shall be free! I have another 5 more HEAVY subjects to go! Wish me luck! =)

I can't wait for Christmas! =)

The New SPM Timetable...

The new and finalized SPM timetable. My SPM papers are going to start on the 18th of November and end on the 14th of December. Those who are not taking Chinese will finish on the 8th! This means that they can go for camps, and I can't. T.T

Why does the Ministry of Education have to put the Chinese paper SO late? Before this, Chinese paper was on the 9th of Dec. Now it's on the 14th! Why can't they put all the language papers first? Sigh. My hopes of going for camps are gone, some more I have NS to "look forward" to. Sigh.

Pegawas Pusat Sumber Farewell Celebrations...

Yesterday, the Persatuan Pengawas Pusat Sumber celebrated the farewell of the form 5 librarians! We had food, games, and a souvenir to those who were in their form 5s!

I think the juniors planned the programmes pretty well. For once, I felt the games were fun and worth playing. Usually, the games are just so boring and childish. The MC of the day was Zhi Yan and Jane. Game master was Jia Tiek.

My school library, in the past 5 years, has changed tremendously. It started just with a few racks filled with books. After that, the other section was opened, and more books were bought and filled into the new racks. Later on, a new system was introduced for the borrowing and returning books. This year, CCTVs was installed, followed by the touch-in system. Truly, the library has changed a lot since I first arrived.

Ah, a souvenir to keep in my memory box as remembrance in time to come.

Teknik Menjawab @ Church...

I attended today's Teknik Menjawab organized by my church, Wesley Methodist Church. Quite a big group attended. I think there were students from Keat Hwa I, Keat Hwa II, St. Michael, Kolej and Sekolah Teknik. I'm sure if there were any other schools. Anyway, I think there were about 40 to 50 of us there.

This "Teknik Menjawab" was devided into two sections, Chemistry and Physics. Chemistry was taught by U. Ti Pheng and Physics was taken by U. Koay. I think both teachers explain those important little details that we, students miss out. I think most of us gained some new information and it will help us to score a few more marks in our SPM.

Before starting...
Just started.
U. Ti Pheng taking the first session.
In the middle of U. Ti Pheng's session, Pastor came and prayed for us who were taking SPM, and bibles were given out to those who attended Community Tuition throughout the year.

Derma Pembangunan?

I donated RM 50 to my school sometime during the middle of this year. It's something we, students of Keat Hwa II have to donate "willingly" every year. I put the word "willingly" in "..." because we, students are not given the freedom to give the donation or not.

Frankly, to me, I think we students should given that choice. It's unfair to make every student donate RM 50 to the school. I mean, it's okay to those well off kids, but how about those whoo are struggling to make ends meet? And those who are struggling to put food on the table? I thought education was supposed to be free already? I thought in the last Malaysian budget, education is now free?
The Pondok (which is now completed)
To me, I have not much complaints about donating to the school, as long I've seen the school authorities doing something with the money to improve the studying environment for us students. If there is nothing being done, then I might wonder where is all the cash going to. In my past 4 years in school (close to 5 now), a mini gym has been built beside the gym, new plants have been planted at the tapak perhimpunan, the school's canteen has been widened, a new pondok (just completed recently), and now they are being something in front the school main office. My school has changed a lot in these past 4 years of mine in this school.
My School...
I'm glad I got a place here, although I would have much prefered to study in Keat Hwa... Oh well...

Advantage and Disadvantage of Using Computers in Schools.

Should computers be used in schools? I have gather information from all kinds of different sources and interviewed a few people on their views to this issue. This is what I gathered:

Using computers in school has many advantages. It actually makes learning more interactive. Lessons can now be taught through the LCD, and this will enable students to watch and picture what the teacher is teaching. For example, a physics teacher is teaching about the concept of nuclear fission, but the experiment on it cannot be conducted in the school's science lab, because it's to dangerous. But, with the usage of a computer and a LCD, students will be able to see that experiment done by others, enabling them to understand better.

The usage of computers also match learner' development needs with personal interests. Students are always finding something new to let their brains feed on, as they are born curious. With the usage of computers, it makes learning more real. They are able to picture it three dimensionally.

Computers also have efficient data storage. Data like good articles, exercises and notes can be kept in the computer, and are readily assessable by students and teachers. With the latest introduction of a terabyte storage disk, imagine how many articles, exercises and notes can be stored! And how much students will will benefit from it.

Students who learn using computer will be able to share information among the school community and family members too! This is because they have a much clearer concept on what has been thought by the teachers. Students might also pick up a few new skills, like leaning how to use the computer, and relate that knowledge to his or her family members.

But, every good thing has its cons too. One of the many disadvantages of using computers in school is all teachers and students enter school, most of them are computer literate. When students enter school, most of them are computer illiterate, unless they have gone for classes on learning computers or their parents have thought them. Furthermore, not all teachers are computer literate too. Therefore, a high cost is needed to send the teachers to learn these computer skills required. Teachers would also then need o waste quite some time teaching students how to use the computer, when this time can be used to start teaching the syllabus.

A large sum of money has to be allocated by the school too to pay off the high cost of maintenance of the computer. Computers need to be maintained by buying anti virus programs to protect the computer from computer viruses, and programs needed to use to teach and keep the computers in working condition. Instead of wasting this large amount of money on computer maintenance, why not spend it on something that will benefit the students? For example, more trees can be bought and planted in the school compounds to cool the school down with the money allocated for the maintenance of computers. In this way, students will be able to learn in a much more cooling environment.

The data available needs to be frequently updated too. Everyday, new things are being invented, new theories are being theorized, old concepts are being changed because of new findings... etc. This means the data stored in the computers for the students and teachers must be updated daily to prevent it from becoming stale. This involves great effort and loads of time.

There is also a risk of data loss and corrupted data. Sometimes, when a student doesn't close the program properly or doesn't save the data properly, it migh lead to data loss or corrupted data. This means, someone has to keep a backup for all the data stored in the computer and also monitor and check on the computer after each computer has been used. This job is tedious and not many people would want to hold this responsiblility.

Therefore, there are many advantages and disadvantages of using computers in schools. In the end, it's up to the students and teachers themselves to decide whether the usage of computer benefits them or destorys them.

Islamic Photostat Centre?

Huh? Now there are photostat centers based on religion? No offense to the Muslims though. But why name it Islamic Photostat Center? What's the difference between the papers photostatted at that center and any other centers? The papers photostatted at that shop will be more holy? It's just pure silliness.

Update On My Grades...

I didn't attend school today, because of two reasons. First reason was the school invited some monks (I think) to give blessings for those who are taking PMR and SPM. As I'm not a Buddhist, I decided not to go school instead. My second reason was because today, my school had extra curriculum activities. Although I can get out early, I still have to wait for my bus to take me home, which is at 4:30 p.m. A pure waste of time.

Anyway, my friend told me History Paper 1 marks. I got 30 out of 40. My friend said highest was 35, and the number of people who got above 30 are few, not above 10 people, according to him. Oh well, I'll know my actual marks when I see them tomorrow at school.

Wish me luck tomorrow as I get my results back.

P.S. I think I'll fail Chinese this time for sure. Sigh.

Doomsday Tomorrow!

Chinese Papers tomorrow. I'm going to dig my grave now and bury myself inside.
