MYF Trip to Penang Hill... [Part 1]

It was 6:30 in the morning, I was awakened by my mum. It was the day, I was going up Penang Hill! I went to the parsonage to join up with the other MYF'ers and some of the committee tuition people...

When we first arrived at Penang Hill, it was drizzling. But, we still hiked up anyway. Climbing up Penang Hill is no easy task. At some parts, the slope was at 30 degrees! My muscles are still aching now... But one thing I'm curious about is how drivers manage to control their four-wheel drives when they drive up.
Up! Up! Up the hill!
A group of 3 guys and a girl were first to reach the hill. We couldn't keep to their pace... Aaron, Jonathan and I tried to chase them, but they were too far ahead...
A small group photo...
The beautiful scenery...
Aunty Doreen made it!
It took me about an hour plus to reach the peak. It was very tiring, but also quite fun! We had a few laughs; like Jonathan lying in the middle of the road, face flat on the ground, because he said he couldn't move another inch... This trip has given me many unforgettable memories.

I hope that another trip such as this would be organized in the near future...

My Mid-Term Exams Are OVER!

I feel so relieved... for the time being, I must enjoy my short-lived joy to the fullest! I'm going Penang this Saturday!!!

I don't expect to do well in this exam... I was just not well prepared for it... But one thing I do not understand is, why must the mid-term exams be held just right before the mid-term hols. It's so sickening you know, it spoils your holiday! Because you'd spend some of time worrying about the results. Haih. Furthermore, by the time you get your papers back, you'd already forgotten most of it. But, why talk about exams?Man United LOST to Barcelona!!!
Argh!!! How can M.U. lose????

One More Day...

One more day of exams left. Can I handle it? The past week's papers were quite tough. I foresee myself not doing well in some of the papers. Even English was tough!

I had my Chemistry paper today! It was SUPER tough! I'll be satisfied if I even pass. Okay, it might not be that bad, but still I know an A is impossible. I wonder why this time Puan Low didn't set the questions according to the SPM format. After all, we are preparing for SPM, not some internal school exam.

Gotta go study Physics now...

Without You...

I just wanna be alone tonight
I just wanna take a little breather
Cause lately all we do is fight
And every time it cuts me deeper

Cause something’s changed
You’ve been acting so strange
And its taking its toll on me
Its safe to say that I’m ready to let you leave

Without you, I live it up a little more everyday
Without you, I’m seein myself so differently
I didn’t wanna believe it then
But it all worked out in the end
When I watched you walk away
Well I never thought I'd say
I’m fine
Without you

Called you up cause’ it’s been long enough
And you said that you were so much better
We have done a lot of growing up
We were never meant to be together

Cause something changed, you were acting so strange
And it’s taken its toll on me
It’s safe to say that I’m ready to let you leave

Without you, I live it up a little more everyday
Without you, I’m seein myself so differently
I didn’t wanna believe it then
But it all worked out in the end
When I watched you walk away
Well I never thought I'd say
I’m fine
Without you

Cause something changed, you were acting so strange
And it’s taken it's toll on me
It’s safe to say that I’m ready to let you leave

Without you, I live it up a little more everyday
Without you, I’m seein myself so differently
I didn’t wanna believe it then
But it all worked out in the end
When I watched you walk away
Well I never thought id say
I’m fine,
Without you (Na na na na)
Without you (Na na na na)
Without you (Na na na na)
Without you (Na na na na)
I just wanna be alone tonight,
I just wanna take a little breather.

I finally understood. Thanks for the friends who stood by me...

Exam Today...

Wednesday 20/05/2009
0815 - 1045 Sejarah 2
1120 - 1350 Pendidikan Moral 1

I am glad that three of the memorizing subjects are over, Moral, Biology and History! The three "make-your-hair-grow-white" and "drive-you-up-the-wall" subjects! I think I may do rather badly in my Sejarah Paper 2, because I think I answered some parts of the essay wrongly. But, what is passed, is past. I must move on.

I don't understand why do we need to sit for the moral paper. We basically need to memorize the 36 nilais and blurt it our word by word in the exam. By sitting this exam, we do not change morally, we only just improve academically. After SPM, we buang all the nilais into the tong sampah.

Anyway, my mum bought mangosteens! My fav! But aren't mangosteens expensive these days! RM 6 per kilo! Look at the small bunch my mum bought. The color of the picture is a little off though, because I used my phone camera to take this picture...

3 days of exams has passed so far. And I am so glad that Bio Paper 1 and 2 is over! I think I won't do well in my Bio in this exam. In paper 2, I literally left one whole subjective question blank! I totally forgot about tissue fluid! I did a few careless mistakes though in my Bio Paper 1 and Sejarah Paper 1. And there were a few questions that had very close answers.

Last Sunday, my school celebrated Teacher's Day! I'll blog about it when I'm free...

My Exam So Far...

Well, I'll be blogging less often for the next two weeks, mainly because my exams are on. But I'll try my best to update it, if I have some time to spare.

I had my civic and PJK papers yesterday. I don't see what's the point of doing a written test on PJK, why not do a physical test instead? Most people finish the paper in 15 minutes and sleep, and the paper is one hour long.

Mother's Love [Part 2]

Continued from the previous post...

My father fell ill and died, and poor mother had to take role as the bread winner of the family. She held on her job but our financial situation got worse.

A nice uncle who lived nearby came to our help. Our neighbors often advised my mother to marry again. But mother was stubborn and didn't care for advice.

She told them, "I don't need love."

This was her fifth lie.

I completed my studies and got a job and soon, it was time for my mother to retire. But she didn't want to. Every morning, she headed to the market-place to sell some vegetables and earn money for her needs.

I worked in the other city and often sent her money, but she would not accept it. She even sent the money back to me, saying, "I have enough money."

This was mother's sixth lie.

A company then offered me a scholarship to do my master's at a prestigious university in the United States. After getting the degree, I was hired by the company and was paid quite a high salary.

I wanted to take mother back to America, so she could enjoy her old age. But she didn't want to bother her son. She said to me, "I'm not used to the life there."

This was mother's seventh lie.

Mother grew old, got cancer and had to be hospitalized. I, who lived across the oceans, came home to visit her.

Mother looked so weak as she gazed at me in a yearning way. She tried to smile but it looked stiff. It was clear that the disease had broken her body.

Tears flowed from my face as I stared at her. But mother, with strength in her voice, said, "Don't cry, my son. I'm not in pain."

That was her eighth lie.

After she said that, she closed her eyes, and those eyes never opened again.

Treasure your mother while you still can. Show to her that you love her, in little little ways although sometimes you may have misunderstandings with her.Happy Mother's Day!

Mother's Love... [Part 1]

A mother's eight lies. Here how the story goes...

I was born the son of a poor family, which often lacked food. Whenever it came to eat, mother would give me a portion of rice.

As she placed her share into my bowl, she would say, "Eat this, son. I'm not hungry."

That was mother's first lie.

When I was growing up, mother spent her spare time fishing in a river near our house. She hoped that what she caught would give me more nutrition.

She would cook the fish in a soup, which gave me good appetite. As I ate, mother would sit beside me and pick the remaining bits of flesh on the bone.

When I tried to give her some of the fish, she refused and said "You eat it. I don't really like fish."

That was mother's second lie.

When I reach junior high school, to fund my studies, mother brought back used match boxes which she would stick together. It earned some money to cover our needs.

Whenever I woke up from my sleep during the winter nights, she'd still be awake, working on the little boxes in the dim candle light.

I used to tell her, "Mother, go to sleep, it's late. Tomorrow morning you still have to go to work."

Mother would smile and say, "Go to sleep, dear. I'm not tired."

This was her third lie.

During my final exam, mother asked for a leave from work to accompany me to school. The sun was shining and the day was hot, but she waited for me for several hours.

As soon as the bell rang, mother immediately rushed to pour me a cold glass of tea that she had brought in a bottle. The tea was thick, but not as thick as mother's love. Seeing her covered with perspiration, I gave her my glass and asked her to drink too.

Mother said, "Drink son, I'm not thirsty."

This was her fourth lie.

To be continued in the next post...

A Little on Folios...

Just a few days ago, my additional mathematics teacher gave us a project to complete on the topic circles given by the Bahagian Pembangunan Kurikulum Kementerian Pelajaran Malaysia. And with exam round the corner, I find it near impossible to complete it. And I need to pass this folio up before exam starts, and exam starts next Wednesday.

Why do the Kementerian Pelajaran Malaysia need to force the students to do such folios? Do these folios really benefit the students? Or it's just a waste of time? What do you think?

Thanks...

I was feeling a little empty the past few days. I kept thinking about the mistakes I did, the misunderstandings that happened between me and my parents and friends. Basically, eflecting on the past to change for the better.

I was also feeling a little lonely, suddenly my life was just so quiet. Like there was no purpose and no meaning to my life. I couldn't concentrate and focus anymore when studying.

After catching up with a friend I have not contacted for quite some time, and after talking about our lives, I suddenly saw light again. Thanks a lot, for feeling the emptiness in me. Thanks, SE!

Dedicated to a Friend...

To longest and best pal, TH.
Happy Birthday dude!

As we walk in our everyday life,
We meet people everyday,
Most simply met by chance,
But, some are sent our way...

These become special friends,
Bonds made with reasons we just can't explain,
Happy birthday, my friend!

In My Place...

In my place, in my place,
Were lines that I couldn't change,
I was lost, oh yeah...

I was lost, I was lost,
Crossed lines I shouldn't have crossed,
I was lost, oh yeah...

Yeah, how long must you wait for him?
Yeah, how long must you pay for him?
Yeah, how long must you wait for him?

I was scared, I was scared,
Tired and under prepared,
But I wait for you,

If you go, if you go,
Leaving me here on my own,
Well I wait for you...

Yeah, how long must you wait for him?
Yeah, how long must you pay for him?
Yeah, how long must you wait for him?

Please, please, please...
Come on and sing to me,
To me, me,

Come on and sing it out, out, out...
Come on and sing it now, now, now...
Come on and sing it,

In my place, in my place,
Were lines that I couldn't change,
I was lost, oh yeah,
Oh yeah...
