Currently reading ... The BFG

Currently reading "The BFG" by Roald Dahl.

This book is about Sophie and the Big Friendly Giant. Let me tell you about this story. One night, Sophie couldn't sleep. She was an orphan. Sophie was snatched by a giant. Fortunately for Sophie, she was abducted by a friendly giant, called the Big Friendly Giant or the BFG.

The BFG catches good dreams and blow them via a blowpipe into bedrooms of children. When he catches a nightmare, he explodes it. When he went catching dreams with Sophie, he caught a golden phizzwizard. After that, he caught a nightmare, the worst one there was...

The other giants are not so pleasant, every night, they eat human beans. Unlike the BFG, he eats snozzcumber and drinks frobscottle, which is fizzy and delicious. The bubbles travel downwards instead of upwards.

Sophie and BFG become friends. Eventually, they planned a plan to get rid of the giants and save the people. First, the BFG mixes dreams and blows the dream into the Queen's bedroom. The BFG leaves Sophie on the Queen's windowsill, and hides in the garden.

When the Queen awakens, Sophie tells her that her dreams was true. The Queens believes her and they were given a breakfast. The Queen thens confirm the story by calling the King of Sweden, and the Sultan of Baghdad.

After that, the Queen orders a huge fleet of helicopters to follow the BFG into the giant's homeland and ties them up. They were then put into a huge pit constructed.

As a punishment for child-eating, the giants are forced to eat snozzcumbers for their rest of their lives.

This is a good book. One you start this book, you will not want to put this book down until you have finished the book. I give it a 9/10 rating.

Yeah, I love Roald Dhal too. Actually I discovered him quite late in life (when I was reading stories to my girls). Read Fantastic Mr. Fox (real kiddy but ever so well written) & I was hooked. After that came Witches, Boy, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.... He also wrote for adults but I actually like his children books better. Long live Roald Dhal! :-)
