Keat Hwa Form 6 Basketball Competition! =D

Last Saturday, Sixth Form Society organized a basketball competition just for the Form 6s. =) Every form 6 class had to at least send out a team as representatives. It was COMPULSORY!

With only having 9 boys in my class, we all agreed to participate, except for the away-band member, Navine, and ZW. We all just participating for fun, and for the piece of paper for marks. We already knew our fate before we even played. We were sure to lose terribly against the upper sixes and also other lower six classes, especially the class with a school basketball team player. Basically, we all weren't basketball players! Haha...
Saturday morning came, the weather was fine, just right for the competition. It had been raining for the past few days, and we didn't want the matches postponed. It would mean more hassle for us. =S

Highlights of the matches we played.

Our class had to play 3 games. If we were top 2 of the group, we would enter the semis and then the finals. BUT unfortunately, we didn't win any games though, but I think we did put in our best, right? =D And, at least we didn't lose terribly to the other teams like we thought we would. We DIDN'T GET 0 for ANY of the games we played! =D

Our first game was against U6S2. The final result after the first half and second half of the game was 2-6. I scored! Once... LOL!

Our next game was against L6S4. This was one of the stronger teams among the 8 teams. The had whipped L6S3 21-0 before they played against us. We managed to scored once, against their rather strong defense. The final score was 2-9. Cha Meng scored once. =)

I didn't stay for the third game though (against L6S3). I had Mohan tuition to attend to. =S

And throughout the whole competition, the St. John people were standing there like statues. I wonder how bored they were... =P

France and Italy OUT! Which Giant Next?

Can you believe that Italy and France are out of the World Cup? Furthermore, finishing LAST place in their respective groups! And Italy is the defending champion! They won the last world cup in 2006, and they have won it 4 times already. How can they just go down in the qualifying rounds?

Goodbye Italy and France! ;(

World Cup Fever! =D

World Cup has started! =D

I can't believe that I actually watched almost the entire game of the opening match of the World Cup! Usually, I wouldn't be bothered to even look at the times of the World Cup matches. I would just check the scores the next day. And, previous years', these matches would be held and aired live past midnight, in the wee hours in the morning due to the different time zones. But fortunately this year, since it's held in South Africa, the time gap between Malaysia and South Africa is smaller than the past years, bringing the matches earlier.

South Africa versus Mexico. End result. 1-1. A tie. A pity. I was hoping that South Africa would win their first match, since they were playing on home-ground, but, alas, at least they managed a tie. Mexico, to me, played lousy tonight, I think. I always thought that Mexico was much better than South Africa. There were a lot of good saves by the teams' goalkeepers, and also a lot of near misses that could have helped South Africa to win their opening match. Oh well, good game! =)

SUSOM Captain Ball Outing With the Ampang Youth....

SUSOM is not just all about missions, we have sports too! The Ampang Youth invited us to join their youth service and also join in their game of Captain Ball! =)

After lunch, we headed off to Ampang Gospel Center to attend the youth service. But before that, the lights starting blinking in the office! And the whole office started to blink, like a horror movie! =D Anyway, we could smell smoke from where we were. We rushed out, and we saw this....
The pole was on fire! There were sparks off and on, but it soon died down.

Back to Ampang Gospel Centre Youth Service! =D Their youth service is about the size of my youth service, but a little smaller (I think). After worship and ice-breakers, we headed off to the field.

Oh well, captain ball was not a new game to me, it was to the twins though (since they never attended any SU camps before =P). All of us were split into 4 teams. I was in the same group with Jing, while Ying was with Tong, and Teng with Yong.

I must say each game was rather short. Usually, we would play for about 10 to 30 minutes per game? They only played about 5 minutes? Not even enough time to warm up. Ah Tong's group won, followed by mine. Haha... They had more man-power (which was a little unfair =P)! Anyway, after captain ball, Uncle Alan belanjaed us makan malam at a steak house called "Fiske Sate Ria". We only had to pay for our drinks! =)
We had some free time after dinner, so, we played TABOO! Haha...

Thus, ends our first day of the weekend.

The 100m Record.. Broken Again!!!

Usain Bolt! A history maker! He has broke the world record for 100m three times already! He's the fastest man in the world! Congrats in his win the World Championships! And achieving a record time of 9.58s!

Squash Competition...

Today I went for my MSSD squash competition with 3 others from my school. I met some of my other friends from other schools there, from Keat Hwa 1 and some from Kolej. Loh came and picked me up in the morning and also Joseph Foo on the way, because he was going also, and his mother had offered us a ride there. I woke up rather early today by MY OWN! Haha... One of the rare times. Most probably because I was very nervous.

My school team registered, each of us had to pay RM 3, but we'll be claiming that money back from the PK Koko. That'll be RM 12 in all. After that, the draw of the game was out. After looking at it, I knew that I could only last up to the quarter-finals. I was to meet a guy from Kolej, a good player. And sure enough, I lasted till the quarter-finals.

I can say that me and Joseph Foo were quite lucky to not have opponents at the first round. And both from my school team won! Haha... But the next round was going to be a problem. Yi Jing and Zhean Wei were going to meet the top seeds in their respective groups.

I was up against this guy from Keat Hwa 1. He was quite a powerful player. But, I think I got lucky. Haha... It was sad that the rest of my school team had been knocked out. Yi Jing had it really tough against the top seed. And so did Zhean Wei. But at least, they still scored some points against them.

The third round was a major let down for me. I lost. Sigh! I was hoping to win a medal this year. Sigh. Never mind, I have another year next year. I will train hard! My other team mates, were now just playing the fool, because if they win, also cannot get into the top 8. Joseph Foo won the first two sets, but he then lost steam, he was out of energy, and lost the following three.

Haha... But the most important is... WE HAD FUN! =)

Squash Competition...

I'm going to enter the upcoming squash MSSD again! Later going for practice! Woopee! So EXCITED! I can barely wait! LOL! Got bitten by the squash bug already. Haha... I've been entering this squash competition 2years in a row. This shall be my 3rd year. This year, the squash competition is held a little earlier then usual. Usually, it will be held around February, but this year, it will be held on 22nd and 23rd or January. Although the competition is stated two days in the official letter, the competition is usually done by the first day.

My school will be sending four representatives this year, me, Joesph, Zhean Wei and Yi Jing. I don't know whether a teacher will be accompanying us a not... Because when we entered this competition in 2007, no teacher accompanied us. But last year, Cikgu Zahir came...

This year, there will be a change in the point tallying system too. Instead of the total point of 9 per set, there will be 11 points instead. To win the game, you will need to get the best of 5 sets. That means, to win, you have to win the minimum of 3 sets.

Let's hope all of us get medals and make our school proud! ^^ Suddenly so enthusiastic to mengharumkan nama sekolah... LOL!

First win for Eei Hui-Pei Tty at Danish Open..

Woopee! Finally a women's double pair has emerged to make Malaysia proud! They won the Danish Open. It's the first victory for them and for Malaysia's women's pair for the last six years. The had a shot at the title, because the strong players, like the Chinese and Korean's women's doubles did not compete.

Hmm... I wonder they will be given Datukship like Datuk Lee Chong Wei, just for winning the Danish Open... After all, it's an achievement for the country and them...

Sports... Good or Bad?

Is sports a waste of time? I don't think so. I think sports benefit one mentally and physically. Sports is an activity of human endurance. It tests man to see the limits of man. If sports is a waste of time, why are countries hosting major competitions like Euro football, World Cup, Olympics and other major tournaments? Sports doesn't just benefit an individual, but also the country too.

When I think of sports, the first thing that comes to my mind is my favorite sport, squash. I think of players trying to hit the black ball against the wall, until one fails to retrieve it. I too spend time on sports. I play squash. One gets to keep fit and build one's physique while playing sports. Playing sports is actually exercising. Exercising keeps the blood pumping in your body and this prevents you from falling ill easily. Research indicates it slow the process of aging. So sports really can't be that bad...

Sports can also generate one country's economy. Take China for an example, recently, China just hosted the Olympics in Beijing. Because of the Olympics, at that time, all eyes were at Beijing. Why? Because Olympics is one of the oldest competition and covers almost every sports. Tourism is China will be the main benefactor, because people want to watch the athletes in action. People waited a day just to buy the tickets for the opening ceremony. Hosting the Olympics, also makes the country proud. It shows that the country has arrived, and now holds the title "Olympic City".

Usually when we play sports, we play in a group. This helps foster new friendships and we get to know the culture of other people. If you look at it in a larger scale, different people from different countries meet at Beijing to compete against each other. Take an athletic from China, he will get to meet people from Cuba, Malaysia, Russia, Israel and so many people from other countries.He will have friend from almost every country.

Sportsman and sportswoman will also learn good sportsmanship and learn to win and lose happily. That is why there is a phrase called "Everybody is a winner!". Take Olympics for an example, the people taking part in it would be proud, because they are representing their country. Sportsman and sportswomen will also learn how to play without cheating, like taking drugs to increase stamina.

So, what do you think? Sports good or bad? I think sports is good for you...

Day drive, the game...

School just started three days ago. To relieve the school stress, I decided to pay freeonlinegames a visit instead of miniclip, because miniclip's games are getting boring.

Well, day drive is street racing. There are three cars, you don't get to choose, but you get to use them at different levels. The path of the racing is same at easy, medium and hard, which makes it a little boring.

When I played easy, I got to use the blue car. When I first drove, it was rather hard to control, maybe I needed getting used to.

Easy level results...

I drove at a constant speed of 212 km/h. Haha... I finished the race in 3:03:55 minutes.

Medium level results....

My average speed this time lower, 209 km/h Haiz... This time, it took a little longer to finish the race, 3:05:64 minutes. This time, I got to use the red car...

In the game (Hard level)

I got to use the green car. My average speed same as the easy level. Does this mean this level is easier than the medium level??? Haha... I finished this level, clocking 3:03:48, the fastest of all levels. What is the difference between all the levels? Just get to use different cars?

Tip: If you find it hard to steer 90 degree turns, drive through the boxes.

Holiday time, nothing much to do at home. So, I decided to pay miniclip a visit. Holidays are just so boring. Away from friends at school. Nothing much to do, except to catch up on studies. Haiz...

Well, this game, is about pinning your opponent down for 3 seconds. Sound easy, huh?Here is the main page. You get to choose one of the four players. Well, today athletic Yuan Yufang failed to complete the women's 20 km walk. Sigh... She went out due to muscle cramps at the 12 km mark, which was too bad for her...

Taekwondo Elaine Teo was a big upset. I thought she would win another medal for Malaysia, but failed. She participated in the taekwondo category women's below 57 kg. In the opening match, she lost to Turkey's Azize Tanrikulu. In the first round, she still lost to an American, Diana Lopez, 0-3. The American had a height advantage, because she was 1.85 m tall.

Today, in diving, Pandelela Rinong took part in the woman's 10m platform preliminaries. Can imagine that she is only 15 years old? She must be the youngest Malaysian to qualify for the Olympics. Her first performance was the lowest among 29 divers. Scoring only 36.45. She finished 27th place out of 29 divers.

Well, Chong Wei... LOST! (updated)

RM 1 million, bye bye! Lee Chong Wei lost to Lin Dan 12-21, 8-21. I've never seen Chong Wei lost so badly to Lin Dan. Chong Wei was good, but Lin Dan was better.

In the second set, Lin Dan was leading 8 points, before Chong Wei scored his first point... Well, he failed to bring back the gold medal for Malaysia, but at least he is the one who bring back a medal for Malaysia. We should be proud of him!

He will still get his RM300,000 reward, for bringing back a silver medal, and a RM3,000 monthly, under the Olympic incentive scheme....

Updated: Walao! Get silver medal also get Datukship. I wanna go Olympics and get a medal too. Haha... Then, I would be called Datuk Daniel. Haha... Well, Lee Chong Wei is know, Datuk Lee Chong Wei. Congrats to him!

Gold Medals but not Gold Medals in Beijing Olympics 2008...

Did you know the gold medals awarded in the Beijing Olympics are made up of mostly silver? Every gold medal in the Olympics only contain 6% of pure gold, and the rest is silver.

Gold medals should be made up of more gold right? Then only call gold medal ma... At least 90% gold ma...

I was really fascinated when I saw basketball, China vs. USA, live on TV. So, I decided to pay basketball too, e-basketball. Haha!

Well, this game is like normal basketball, except that there are only three players instead of five. I wrote about basketball a long time ago, you can read it here. Well, basically, basketball is a game about scoring as many baskets (points) as possible. The team that scores most wins, like when USA defeated China (Men) 101 to 70.

There are a few teams to choose from in this game, eight teams in all. I chose Villains. In the quarter finals, i faced my first opponent, the Yankees. In this game, it is the best of three to win the match. I struggled in the first match, I was trying to get used to the controls. The score was tied in the first half. I won my first match against the Yankees, 20 ti 19, but a fluke 3 pointer. The second match was an easy match. I won 31 to 13.

In the game...

I proceeded into the semi-finals, meeting the Sailors.I won the first match with some resistance, 21 to 16. I started the second match well in the first half with a 9 point lead. But in the second half, I some how lost 24 to 26. I decided to fight back in the deciding match and won with much resistance, 22 to 16.

Next, the finals, Villains against the Cows!

The final score, 33 to 17. I won!!!!

The Final Results...

This game is quite good, except there is no fouls. You can dribble back and forth the court. It is quite hard to snatch the ball from the opponent (or maybe I haven't mastered the skill). But overall, this game is quite good. I give this game a rating of 7/10.
