The Mediterranean Journey @ Agua, Penang... :)

Prepare yourself for something REALLY different when you step into this restaurant, located at Straits Quays, E&O Marina, Penang. :)
One thing which stands out from Mediterranean food and local food is the taste, it needs some getting use to. Mediterranean food are cooked in such a way that it's healthy. And of course, the price.This restaurant as I mentioned earlier, can be found at Straits Quays, E&O Marina.And, the service is great! It's probably the first time I've eaten at a restaurant where they change the plates between courses.This is their honey lemonade.

Look at the dish below, it's served with bread. I seriously didn't know how to eat it when I first looked at it. Each piece of meat you see is sliced SUPER thin, and notice that there are lots of veggies on the plate too?
This is how we think it should be eaten. :DMoving on, my dad wanted to try their ribs too. To me, there's nothing better than ribs BBQ'ed' covered with the good old BBQ sauce. :D TGIF's ribs is better any day!

But of course, the ribs served here is much MUCH more healty than TGIFs'. But who cares? I'm young! Haha.

The rice is sticky, and the rice granules are much much BIGGER than the local rices'. It's their signature dish. This dish orginates from Valencia, served with seafood, chicken and pork.

I guess it's one of their more popular dishes. People who came after us were also seen ordering this. So, give it a try if you have a chance. I don't really fancy it though.

tao @ E-Gate, Penang. =D

tao! I had the chance to try it (after hearing my mother talk about it for such a LONG LONG time...)! =D My sister's birthday was last Thursday, and my father promised her to bring her to tao at E-Gate for a birthday treat. =)
My mother has been to tao (not this Tao though, the one in Juru), a couple of times already. She went with her friends, and said that the food in tao was not bad.

Let me tell you how this restaurant works. First of all, it's an eat-all-you-want restaurant. You pay a flat rate, and you only have to pay extra if you want their shashimi (raw foods). And they serve Japanese food, mostly. But, the way of serving the food is a little different. Usually, in eat-all-you-want restaurants, the food is served buffet style, right? But not in tao, you have to order the food, and it will be served to you. Therefore, the food is fresher and piping hot, which is a plus point to customers! =D

To me, the pricing is a little more to the expensive side. It's about RM 50 per person. But, what do you expect... for good food, there is always a higher price to pay. :S But oh well... Let me introduce some of their dishes to you. =D

Unfortunately, I don't have this dish's name. But I can tell you what it is. It's small crabs and prawns fried. You eat it with shell and all. I don't really fancy it... But it was something new... NEXT!

E12 Mussel Spicy Mayo

E11 Motomaki Cheese Mayo

This was super nice! It's a MUST try dish. We ordered this dish about 4 or 5 times. And on each dish, there is 9 of them. My sister ate about 10+ of them. =D And oh, btw, Motomaki are scallops! NEXT!
Unfortunately, I don't have the name of this dish... But my mother likes it though.

D4 Crab Meat with Cheese.

Nothing really spectacular about this dish. I couldn't really taste the crab meat and cheese, only the flour. NEXT!

I think the name of this dish is... lamb terriyaki. I can't recall, as it was my parents who called for this dish. But it was quite nice, one of the dishes that you MUST TRY! =D

J6 California Temaki.

This was so-so? I think the one in Kaede is much nicer... =) NEXT!

A1 Abalone.

This was so-so also? Abalone lovers can have a feast here! xD

Penang!

tao! =D I wanna go eat there again, sometime in the future. It's a place for the people with bottomless stomachs! When wanna go eat, must bring friends that can eat a LOT (so that we get our money's worth!)!=D

Ahh.... Blogging about this makes me wish that I was back there @ The Curve @ Tony Roma's! :)

Tony Roma's! I went there the week after SUSOM (quite long time ago =S). My dad had a conference in Putrajaya. Therefore, during one of his breaks, we headed to the curve to hunt for food! =D
Tony Roma's is a well known chain for steaks and ribs? I don't know about their seafood though. A quick Google search will give you the reviews of their food by the people who have eaten there.
Well, everything that is sold here is... rather pricey? What to do, for good food, there is a certain price you have to pay.

We decided on trying their steak, ribs and buffalo wings! All my favourites! =D (I have an expensive taste for food, I know...)

Well, I think the ribs were a little overdone that day. I could taste more of the burnt meat than the actual meat. Nothing really spectacular about the steak though. I think the one served here in my taman itself can do a better job (cheap some more...) But, the buffalo wings were nice!

Paddington house of Pancakes! :)

Welcome to.... Paddington house of Pancakes! :)

Just two days ago, I was in Penang with my family. We pushed off at around 9 and arrived @ Queensbay mall just in time for breakfast! :) And we decided to have it @ Paddington house of Pancakes! :)
There was no one there at all, not a single customer (I wonder were we the first that day...) was to be seen. Anyway, back to the pancakes!

This was not my first time here, I think it's my second or third time already. The food served has pancakes, whether it's the main course, the appetizer, or the dessert, EVERY single dish has pancakes! (and I'm not kidding!) =)

So, for pancake fans, this is a MUST try restaurant! :)

J.CO Donuts & Coffee...

DONUTS!!! =) My Fav!

Unfortunately, eating too much doughnuts are unhealthy, according to the health experts. =(J.CO Donuts & Coffee, I've never heard of this doughnut franchise before, but since my uncle brought me here to try at Sunway Pyramid, I seized the opportunity! XD

I did some research about this J.CO Donuts & Coffee, and here is their website. It seems that this doughnut shop is originated from Indonesia, and they are only open in Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia.The doughnuts are not bad! I think the doughnuts here are better than Big Apple's or Dunkin' Doughnuts.. and even better than Krispy Kreme!

I also tried their chocolate ice-blended, which I think was not bad! =)

Foul Medammas & Kacang Parang!!

I was at one of the mini supermarkets at PJ last week, and as I went across the canned food area, I could not help but notice these two cans...

If you translate it directly from Malay to English, you'll get "Sword Bean"! So, when you eat it, be careful! Later the beans take their swords can poke you! =D

Foul Medammas!

Foul Medammas! Foul Medan Mamas! Foul Medan Mamaks! What a way to name it! I did some research on it, foul medammas are originated from west or central Asia. And these beans are eaten for breakfast! This beans used to be the staple diet of the peasants. It is also known as being "like a stone in the stomach". Sounds interesting right? I think I would not mind trying them! =) After all, nothing can be worse than a cricket right? =D

ET Foods Station @ Taman Golf...

Ever since I left for SUSOM, two new restaurants have sprung up in the taman I live. Just imagine, in only just ONE MONTH! Not one, but TWO!! Oh well, I've tried them both already. =)

ET Foods Station is the name of the new restaurant in Tmn Golf! The place looks a unwelcoming though, there is no sign board, nor any indication that it is a makan stall except for the pictures on the windows...

The food choices.... Well, I think they serve a variety? Thai food, Chinese food and Western food... Not bad eh?

The fruit juice is RM 2.50 each, reasonable? I think so. Well my mother decided to try the "Ying Yong". She order two of those because my sister also wanted to eat that. I decided to try the "Rib Eye Steak Frozen with Black Pepper Sauce".

The food was quite good for a small restaurant like this, and I must say, the steak is much nicer than the ones served in other places, and I think it was value for money. You should try it! =)

The Famous Cendol in Sitiawan...

Each time I'm back in Sitiawan, I look forward of eating the famous Sitiawan cendol, located outside the temple.

But today, there was a BIG crowd! I guess everyone from all over Malaysia have come back and wants to eat the famous cendol! There was a SUPER long queue, and some more it was super hot (not as hot as Cambodia though).

My father and I decided against of eating the famous cendol because of the long queue (btw, this is my famous cendol's review, there is nothing much to read on that post). Instead, we decided to try the competitor next to it. The store wasn't as popular as the other, because the Sultan hasn't eaten there before.

They also sell cendol with pulut here, same as the other store.

There is actually not much difference between the two stores. For all you know, the owners of the two stores might just be the same. I think the only difference between the two stores is one has a greater nama yang lebih harum, and the other not so.

But, this cendol is a MUST try when you come to Sitiawan. =)

CANTON-i... Truly Hong Kong....

I went to Penang with my family last Saturday to buy some stuff I needed for SUSOM. When we were at QueensBay, my parents decided to try something new for brunch, because we had not eaten breakfast yet.

The food here is quite okay larh, nothing here is out of the ordinary, or special. But the ambiance of the restaurant is nice. I had prawn dumplings and dough fritters, and a little pinching from my parents and sister's food. =)

I think the dumplings I had in Singapore a few years ago was much MUCH nicer... And guess what the dough fritters are....

Eu Cha Kueh!!! We had to pay a bomb just to eat Eu Cha Kueh wrapped in dough??? But, it was quite nice also dipping in that unique sauce. =)

Congee...

This was my mother's congee (porridge). It was okay larh (I'm not a big fan of congee), but I think the one in Sungai Petani was nicer than this.

Beef noodles...

My sister's beef noodles... The beef in her noodles was very soft and tender, like the ones Aunt Chua makes. =)

And for DESSERT!

Mango + Pamaloo Smoothie.

This dessert has a unique taste. It's their signature dessert dish! I think this is because the pamaloo has a unique taste makes the dessert yummy! =)
